President Obama has come under fire from both sides of the political aisle, following his ordering of missile bombardment and bombing of Moammar Ghadafi’s Libyan armed forces – without consulting Congress for approval.
With thanks to the Drudge Report, here’s a link to BreitbartTV and Fox News’ coverage of comments by both Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner and Ohio Democrat Congressman Dennis Kucinich:
Boehner (as quoted by Fox News): “Before any further military commitments are made, the President must do a better job of communicating to the American people and to Congress about our mission in Libya and how it will be achieved.”
Now, that’s pretty charitable treatment by Boehner of Obama’s willy-nilly plunge into a third front in this war. If the House Speaker is working under the Islam-ignorant assumption that the United States’ military support of the forces that are behind the Libyan revolt will guarantee something better for our national interests than Moammar Ghadafi’s regime, he needs to do some serious homework. The Libyan revolt is not being run by the likes of George Washington.
Study of the history of the World of Islam is something that our political leaders have sorely neglected as they continue to stumble blindly through this World War that actually began in the 7th Century. Collectively, I give them an “F” in their knowledge of Muslim history and doctrine.
Kucinich, quoting then-Senator Barack Obama’s words from December of 2007:
“The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.”
Thank you, Congressman Kucinich, for standing up and saying the right thing.
We are in some very deep trouble here. No one seems to have a clue as to where, how or when to end this war. And no one seems to have a shred of information about how Islamic doctrine drives it. The world is in flames and our Commander In Chief is on vacation in Rio de Janeiro.
