This is absolutely maddening. Watching the Democrats throw fastball after fastball past the GOP heavy hitters is like watching an old-timers baseball team play against the current New York Yankees. It’s pitiful. The degree of ineptitude on the Republican side of Congress is just beyond dazzling. A few days ago, the Accountability Committee, which includes a few Repubs, had Secretary of State Hillary Clinton under oath. The members were supposed to find out what really happened within the government preceding and during the 9/11/12 Benghazi attack. In a moment that should go down in national history as the lost opportunity of the Century, they let her slide and did not ask any probing questions that would either shed light onto how this debacle could happen – or would pin Ms. Clinton to a perjurious story for later prosecution. When she yelled at them, they gave up. Then they told her how wonderful she is.
Now that the moment is lost, other Repubs have sent a letter (too little too late) to Ms. Secretary, asking for some answers not sought by the Accountability Committee. It’s just beyond belief. The degree of lack of preparation, the incompetence and lack of any courage in GOP Congress members has got to be at record setting levels. From CNS News, here’s a part of the story:
(CNSNews.com) – With just three days to go before her last day at the State Department, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continues to be dogged by questions about the deadly terror attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi last fall.
No one, not in Congress or in the media, has ever dogged this woman for any answers about the Benghazi attack and the lies the Obama Administration purveyed for two full weeks following the slaughter.
In a letter sent late on Monday, three Republican House committee chairmen asked Clinton to provide documentation relating to security at the consulate, video footage of the September 11 attack, and other material, saying the recent Accountability Review Board (ARB) probe into the incident had left key questions unanswered.
Gosh. They sent her a letter. I gotta lay down for awhile.
Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.), Oversight and Government Reform Committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), and House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on National Security Chairman Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) noted that the board had not questioned the department’s senior-most officials, including Clinton herself, Deputy Secretary William Burns and Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources Thomas Nides.
They said they believed its failure to do so was “a critical omission from the ARB’s review of the facts leading up to the attack.”
I think it’s beyond an omission. These guys aren’t appliance salesmen. They’re lawyers, one and all. They all understand the concepts and techniques of direct and cross examination in Courts of Law. They understand the meaning of perjury. And they know that a letter Ms. Clinton may or may not send in response to belated questions that should have been asked when the lady was under oath does not an affidavit or sworn testimonial statement make. They know exactly what they’re doing – putting on a dog and pony show to set Ms. Clinton up for a 2016 run at the Oval Office.

So very true! Why is it that Republicans don’t understand how to handle the media, nor how to thrust and parry effectively? It’s as though they don’t WANT to be effective. Are they secretly just operatives for the opposition or what? Sheesh!
