France’s Choices – Civilization’s Choices – Reducing The Complex To The Simple

Drudge Paris HeadlinesWithin the concepts of standard, authoritative, accepted Muslim doctrine, the unthinkable horror that happened in Paris last night was not in any way extreme.  It was jihad.  This morning’s edition of The Telegraph features a column by Simon Heffer, which opens thus:

Paris terror attacks an alarm bell for liberal, borderless Europe

France could be one step closer to a far-Right president, Marine Le Pen, after the deadly Islamic State attacks in the French capital

The attack on Charlie Hebdo and a Jewish supermarket last January proved that Islamic extremists regarded themselves as at war with France. It is now clear to everyone – including some French public figures who have resisted the idea – that, as President Hollande said on Saturday, France is now at war with Islamic extremists.

Because the enemy is already within – and the eight terrorists killed in the attacks in Paris are merely the tip of the iceberg – fighting this war will be unpleasant, difficult and controversial.

The website of Le Figaro, the conservative French newspaper, proclaimed that there was “war in the heart of Paris”. It is a mood widely shared by the French people, whose attitudes have themselves been radicalised by these terrible events…

And so on and so forth.  It is very difficult to read pieces like this, which I urgently encourage my readers to do, and not completely lose hope for the survival of our civilization.  Learned man that he is, Mr. Heffer remains entirely unable, or is perhaps still unwilling, to accept the hard realities of Islam.  Not some imaginary extreme Islam, to which he alludes.  Islam.  Islam as preached and practiced from the 7th century by its founder, Muhammad.

Mr. Heffer is highly intelligent and writes beautifully.  Yet, like most of the civilized world, he does not yet fully understand the problem.

For the benefit of novice readers with me today, jihad is the mainstream, Quranic idea of killing non-Muslims for Allah to which all Muslims are obligated.  Of course, not all Muslims answer the summons to violence against Infidels.  We know that.  That is an argument we read and hear frequently from people who naively believe there is still some way to work out all of our differences and get along together.

The simple fact is that the highest calling for all Muslims is violent jihad. Long before George W. Bush was born, long before the Arab Spring began, long before the civil war in Syria began, long before Europeans ever thought of leaving the Old World to settle in North America, there was jihadJihad has been mercilessly waged against non-Muslims for fourteen centuries, at a cost of millions upon millions of human lives and unspeakable human suffering.

Until learned men like Mr. Heffer, not to mention men and women in the highest levels of Western officialdom, take the time to educate themselves on the subjects of Muhammad’s life and extremely violent deeds, his instructions to his followers, the subsequent jihad campaigns throughout the centuries (which snuffed out more human lives than any other ideology known in the history of mankind), and the abject intransigence of the doctrine, any remaining hope for preserving our liberty will continue to dimly flicker and fade – until it is finally extinguished.

France’s choices, along with the rest of Western Civilization, are really quite simple now:

Fight or surrender.

Jihad reserves no mercy for Islam’s enemies.  Grieving families in France are soon to claim the dead bodies of their beloved children for burial.

If we are to survive, the people of France and decent men like Mr. Heffer must come to grips with the harsh, grim realities of Islam.  Not extreme Islam.  There is no such thing.  There is only Islam – utterly foreign and hopelessly irreconcilable with Western Civilization.

About John L. Work

John Lloyd Work has taken the detective thriller genre and woven an occasional political thread throughout his books, morphing what was once considered an arena reserved for pure fiction into believable, terrifying, futuristic, true-to-life “faction”. He traveled the uniformed patrolman’s path, answering brutal domestic violence calls, high speed chases, homicides, suicides, armed robberies, breaking up bar fights, and the accompanying sporadic unpredictable moments of terror - which eventually come to all police officers, sometimes when least expected. He gradually absorbed the hard fact that the greatest danger a cop faces comes in the form of day-to-day encounters with emotionally disturbed, highly intoxicated people. Those experiences can wear a cop down, grinding on his own emotions and psyche. Prolonged exposure to the worst of people and people at their worst can soon make him believe that the world is a sewer. That police officer’s reality is a common thread throughout Work’s crime fiction books. Following his graduation from high school, Work studied music and became a professional performer, conductor and teacher. Life made a sudden, unexpected turn when, one afternoon in 1976, his cousin, who eventually became the Chief of the Ontario, California, Police Department, talked him into riding along during a patrol shift. The musician was hooked into becoming a police officer. After working for two years as a reserve officer in Southern California and in Boulder, Colorado, he joined the Longmont, Colorado Police Department. Work served there for seven years, investigating crimes as a patrolman, detective and patrol sergeant. In 1989 he joined the Adams County, Colorado Sheriff’s Office, where he soon learned that locking a criminal up inside a jail or prison does not put him out of business. As a sheriff’s detective he investigated hundreds of crimes, including eleven contract murder conspiracies which originated “inside the walls”. While serving on the Adams County North Metro Gang Task Force and as a member of the Colorado Security Threat Intelligence Network Group (STING), Work designed a seminar on how a criminal’s mind formulates his victim selection strategy. Over a period of six years he taught that class in sheriff’s academies and colleges throughout Colorado. He saw the world of crime both inside the walls and out on the streets. His final experiences in the criminal law field were with the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office, where for nearly two years he investigated felonies from the defense side of the Courtroom. Twenty-two years of observing human nature at its worst, combined with watching some profound changes in America’s culture and political institutions, provided plenty of material for his first three books. A self-published author, he just finished writing his tenth thriller.
