Paris attacks put dagger through heart of liberal Europe

Attacks threaten viability of Schengen agreement and the vision of tolerant, multi-cultural society that is “essence” of Europe, analysts warn

Analysts warn.  Yes.  You read that London Telegraph headline and sub-headline correctly.  The tragedy of Paris on Friday, November 13, 2015, is not that scores of France’s sons and daughters were brutally killed by barbarian agents of the most repressive, intolerant, cruel theo-political ideology in the history of mankind – by that I mean Islam, if you haven’t figured it out.

The real tragedy is that the “essence” of Europe, the grandiose utopian delusion that the Western World and Islam can peacefully coexist, may no longer be viable.  The ideal of multi-culturalism with Islam may be endangered.  That is the tragedy.  What’s a few hundred bright young lives snuffed out if we can just hang onto and maintain that idea of multi-culturalism?

Here’s some of Europe Editor Peter Foster’s Telegraph column:

The Paris attacks that killed at least 128 people on Saturday night will put renewed pressure on Europe Schengen agreement and threaten the “very essence” of the European way of life, as far-right parties seek to capitalise on the attacks, analysts have warned.

Analysts have warned.  Ah.  The precious Schengen Agreement, which allows for free movement between signatory countries within the European Union’s now-defunct borders – yes, defunct because of the ongoing invasion of hundreds of thousands (soon to be millions) of Muslims from Africa and the Middle East – is under pressure.  The barbarians have crashed their way through the borders, thanks to Frau Angela Merkel’s invitation,  and onto the continent.  Schengen was dead weeks ago, months ago.  Forget Schengen.  It’s a lost cause.  There is now a much more pressing problem for Europe than the death of Schengen.

With Paris now enduring this second major terror bloodbath in under a year, questions are now being asked about how much longer both Europe’s open border system and vision of a tolerant, multi-cultural society can survive.

How much longer can Europe’s open border system and vision of a tolerant, multi-cultural society survive?

What a silly question to ask.  Yes.  You read that one correctly, too.  Mr. Foster and others like him are fretting like senile spinsters over the wishful delusions which have led them to the precipice where they are standing at this moment – open borders and a tolerant multi-cultural society.  The thought processes at work here are beyond a rational person’s comprehension.  But then, there’s nothing rational about the idea that Islam is compatible with Western Civilization.

Mr. Foster:  Can you not yet see what is happening to your civilization?   Islam is waging jihad on your people.  Mercilessly and savagely.  There is an invasion in progress.  The question which you should be asking is, “How much longer can Europe survive?”

“With Paris in lockdown and France closing its borders, we can see all too clearly that what is at stake here is the very essence of our way of life in Europe,” said Davis Lewin, the deputy director of the Henry Jackson Society, a conservative think-tank…

…Following the attacks, Francois Hollande, the French President also re-imposed border controls in a bid to ensure that none of the Paris terrorists or their support network in France were able to escape, as occurred after the Charlie Hebdo atrocity.

Even before the Paris attacks, Donald Tusk, the EU president, had warned that Europe faced a “race against time” to save the 20-year-old system, which is seen as one of the Union’s most concrete achievements

Ah, yes.  We must save the system, even if it costs us hundreds or thousands of precious young lives at the hands of the jihadis.  There’s a trade-off in everything, isn’t there.  Young lives lost in exchange for maintaining the delusion.  Here’s a news flash, Mr. Tusk.  Schengen was not a concrete achievement, unless you consider the creation of a mechanism which allows jihadists – who want to kill you, your family, your friends and your political leaders and replace your parliamentary governments with Muslim Law – to roam freely from country to country an achievement.

…Charles Grant, director of the Centre for European Reform, a pro-EU think-tank, warned that Islamic State wanted its attacks to bolster far-Right politicians like Marine Le Pen, the National Front leader who looks poised for a major victory in France’s regional polls this December.

“Islamic State want to get Marine Le Pen stronger. They want far-Right attacks on mosques and a warlike ambience in western countries, because the more Muslims are persecuted, the more Muslims will be motivated to pick up arms and fight in Western Europe.

Now, at last we’re getting to the meat and potatoes of the issue for France’s multi-culturalists (and for Mr. Foster).  Marine Le Pen as president is a far more sinister threat to France’s safety than allowing the the throat-slitting savages from the World of Islam to remain in the country.  By Mr. Grant’s logic, deporting Muslims or picking up arms and defending one’s family and country from the murdering Muslim barbarians who are already inside the gates really constitutes – persecution of Muslims.  And if there’s one thing we must not do, it is to motivate Muslims to fight and kill people in Western Europe.

How Chamberlain-esque.  A fine idea, Mr. Grant – except that they’re already doing it and they’ve been motivated to do it for the past fourteen centuries.  Perhaps a review of the Siege of Vienna in 1683 might help.

“Europe’s game must be to resist that and not repeat the mistakes we made after September 11 which played right into al-Qaeda’s hands. We must hold our nerve and embrace our values of tolerance of faith and religions which we share in common and against the Islamic State.”

The game.  We shouldn’t have fought back after the September 11th attacks in 2001.  The West should have just lain down and taken it.  And there you have it.  I can go no further, but you can, by clicking here.

By holding their nerve and embracing their values of faith and religions which they share in common and against the Islamic State, Mr. Grant and his band of deluded multi-culti believers will soon lead Europe’s people into the cruel bondage of Islam – forever.  The people whom Mr. Foster regards as the problems, like Marine Le Pen, are the only ones with the clarity of thought and the courage to fight the war and save them.

But, war is such an ugly thing.

About John L. Work

John Lloyd Work has taken the detective thriller genre and woven an occasional political thread throughout his books, morphing what was once considered an arena reserved for pure fiction into believable, terrifying, futuristic, true-to-life “faction”. He traveled the uniformed patrolman’s path, answering brutal domestic violence calls, high speed chases, homicides, suicides, armed robberies, breaking up bar fights, and the accompanying sporadic unpredictable moments of terror - which eventually come to all police officers, sometimes when least expected. He gradually absorbed the hard fact that the greatest danger a cop faces comes in the form of day-to-day encounters with emotionally disturbed, highly intoxicated people. Those experiences can wear a cop down, grinding on his own emotions and psyche. Prolonged exposure to the worst of people and people at their worst can soon make him believe that the world is a sewer. That police officer’s reality is a common thread throughout Work’s crime fiction books. Following his graduation from high school, Work studied music and became a professional performer, conductor and teacher. Life made a sudden, unexpected turn when, one afternoon in 1976, his cousin, who eventually became the Chief of the Ontario, California, Police Department, talked him into riding along during a patrol shift. The musician was hooked into becoming a police officer. After working for two years as a reserve officer in Southern California and in Boulder, Colorado, he joined the Longmont, Colorado Police Department. Work served there for seven years, investigating crimes as a patrolman, detective and patrol sergeant. In 1989 he joined the Adams County, Colorado Sheriff’s Office, where he soon learned that locking a criminal up inside a jail or prison does not put him out of business. As a sheriff’s detective he investigated hundreds of crimes, including eleven contract murder conspiracies which originated “inside the walls”. While serving on the Adams County North Metro Gang Task Force and as a member of the Colorado Security Threat Intelligence Network Group (STING), Work designed a seminar on how a criminal’s mind formulates his victim selection strategy. Over a period of six years he taught that class in sheriff’s academies and colleges throughout Colorado. He saw the world of crime both inside the walls and out on the streets. His final experiences in the criminal law field were with the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office, where for nearly two years he investigated felonies from the defense side of the Courtroom. Twenty-two years of observing human nature at its worst, combined with watching some profound changes in America’s culture and political institutions, provided plenty of material for his first three books. A self-published author, he just finished writing his tenth thriller.
