Recorded and released in 1982, You Should Hear How She Talks About You won Melissa Manchester a Grammy. Combined with a marvelous orchestration, the harmonic key changes within the verse (minor to major) and again into the chorus make this a really interesting piece of music.
Written by Dean Pitchford and Thomas R. Snow, this was Melissa’s very last Billboard Top Ten song. According to the YouTube text:
A 1985 interview with Manchester would state that the singer “had to be dragged kicking and screaming into [the] studio to record…’You Should Hear How She Talks About You’.”
Funny how that works sometimes.
