Here’s another video clip that will probably soon be scrubbed clean from the YouTube files. In a less-than-scholarly-discourse-encouraging manner, Smithtown High School teacher Veronica Welsh used her Facebook site to smear Trump-supporting students as racists.
We can safely deduce from this rather low blow aimed at high school kids whose political viewpoints differ from hers that she is a Hillary Clinton supporter. Good for her. This is, after all, still the United States of America.
That she resorted to calling high school kids who support Mrs. Clinton’s opponent in the nation’s ongoing political process a name which is among the most ugly (conversation-ending) terms in the lexicon of politics – the R word – is not so good. I don’t know which could have been more harmful to her students or to the institution which employs her – calling them racists, Nazis or fascists. Take your pick.
This is one special lady with a college degree and a teaching credential.
I wonder who put the idea into her head that it’s appropriate (or professional) to resort to that level of discourse in describing students who don’t agree with her politics. Interestingly Ms. Welsh is still employed by the school district, albeit in some sort of different capacity.
