“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Commonly (some claim erroneously) attributed to Joseph Goebbels
You can add Mitt Romney to the growing list of Republican presidential candidates and Western journalists who know absolutely nothing about Islam’s doctrine and the threat it poses to Western Civilization – and are thereby inadvertently propagating a lie.
Andrew Bostom has published another must-read essay that exposes Romney’s Orwellian positions on the worldwide jihad movement – and the Shariah which, contrary to what Romney may tell us, is, as a matter of fact, inching its way ever so relentlessly into American Courts of Law. Republicans may nominate this man for election to the office of President and, following such an election, they will well deserve anything that befalls them. Romney labors and speaks, as did George W. Bush, under the delusion that violent jihad has nothing to do with Islam. Here’s the link to Dr. Bostom’s column:

Romney says of his recent presentation at the Heritage Foundation:
“I spoke about three major threats America faces on a long term basis. Jihadism is one of them, and that is not Islam.”
Really? In rebuttal Dr. Bostom writes:
…However: There is just one historically relevant meaning of jihad despite contemporary apologetics. The root of the word Jihad, appears 40 times in the Koran and in subsequent Islamic understanding to both Muslim luminaries—from the greatest jurists and scholars of classical Islam (including Abu Yusuf, Averroes, Ibn Khaldun, Al Ghazzali, and the Shi’ites Al-Hilli and Al-Amili ), to ordinary people—meant and means “he fought, warred or waged war against unbelievers and the like.” As described by the seminal Arabic lexicographer E.W Lane, “Jihad came to be used by the Muslims to signify wag[ing] war, against unbelievers.”…
Bostom provides further hard evidence of Romney’s folly with a 1942 speech by the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, during which the Iranian theocrat said, in part:
…Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those [who say this] are witless. Islam says: Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all! Does this mean that Muslims should sit back until they are devoured by [the unbelievers]? Islam says: Kill them [the non-Muslims], put them to the sword and scatter [their armies]…
How a man like Romney, who is supposed to be educated, enlightened, and worldly, can be so uneducated about that which he says is such a sinister threat to America should awaken conservatives’ curiosity. Perhaps he has just chosen to ignore that which is so clearly written in the history and doctrines of Islam. Then, again, perhaps he is simply so desperate to garner the approval of the American Press Corps that he will now utter anything, including the foregoing statement, toward which Dr. Bostom directed his essay.
The terribly unfortunate result of such a belief is the continuance of the Goebells-esque Big Lie – Islam Is A Religion Of Peace.
